Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person action roguelike: you crash onto a chaotic alien planet, play solo or with up to three friends, stack items while fighting, and try not to become the threat you feared on the first drop. This page is a fan-made wiki hub. It only uses official copy and sourced DLC notes. It is not the Hopoo, Gearbox, or 2K site.
Official copy describes the loop clearly. You fight through more than a dozen handcrafted locales packed with monsters and huge bosses, reach the final boss and escape, or keep looping to see how long you last. A unique scaling system raises your power and your enemies' power in the same run, so staying longer is both stronger and more dangerous.
What a run is doing
Stages, enemies, and items are randomized. Official copy says no two runs play the same. There are more than 110 items; the more you pick up, the more their effects combine, and the more surprising some combinations become. Item, monster, and environment logs fill in lore as you collect them. Artifacts toggle rules. The examples named in official copy are friendly fire, random survivor spawns, and item selection.
Playable characters are called survivors. Official marketing copy says you unlock a crew of ten, each with a unique combat style and alternate skills. Named examples include Commando, Huntress, Engineer, plus Captain and MUL-T. Later DLC adds more survivors, so the exact roster size is unverified on this page.
Co-op, trials, and what we will not invent
Co-op is seamless four-player play. Prismatic Trials are a rotating seeded challenge with a global leaderboard. Logs cover monsters, items, and environments. They are a slow lore track, not a story dump at spawn.
As of the sourced notes (2026-09-14), released expansions are Survivors of the Void, Seekers of the Storm, and Alloyed Collective. The next undated expansion is Hallowed Concepts, themed around N'kuhana's cult. This site does not copy competing fan wikis. Unlock conditions, extra numbers, and a full survivor table stay unverified until they appear in sourced notes.
