Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed trials are timed N'kuhana pockets entered with a Gong. Ethereal loot is temporary; one prize can stay. Still unreleased in the source.

Risk of Rain 2 Hallowed trials are pocket challenges for the unreleased Hallowed Concepts expansion. Dev Diary #3 (Trials of N'kuhana) says followers hide Gongs on stages. Find one, ring it, and you enter a short, sharp realm whose rules are not the teleporter loop. These are not current Artifacts and not Prismatic Trials.

The expansion is still Coming Soon. Nothing here is a live route.

How a trial is supposed to work

Diary #3: trials are brief. Followers track every second you spend inside. Succeed and you are rewarded. Fail and N'kuhana takes the body. Loot sitting in the open is a detour; detours waste the timer.

That loot is Ethereal. When the trial ends it stays behind, whether you return to the run or not. After a clear, a wave of grace lets you pick from those Ethereal items and keep one for the rest of the run; the rest lock away. Linger to hunt a specific pickup, or sprint to bank time for a chain.

Chaining: ring the Gong in the reward area to start another trial without knowing which one. Timers are shared across chained trials, so you are betting the whole run.

Completing trials also grants N'tormat pages (Dark Alchemy, Warp Gate, and other "friendly links" in the diary). Filling the book too far is framed as dangerous: the book may have its own will.

Winnowings named in the diary

The diary groups trials into three haunted flavors — survival, predation, and mortality — endure pain, hunt prey, or fight for your soul. Named examples:

  • Predation / Trial of Broken Glass: smash enough lanterns.
  • Survival / Trial of the Abyss: the fog is a goal; Lemurians can be fed to it. Collected notes also say knock 20 enemies off the arena — treat the number as unverified.
  • Mortality / Trial of the Conduit: a ziprail race through the void. Miss a rail and the abyss explains the rest.

Collected notes add Trial of Infernal Greed (make money before time runs out) and Trial of the Fleet-Footed. Those names are not in the diary transcript in the source, so they stay unverified.

Soulbound Threshold

The diary's boss-rush trial is Soulbound Threshold. You wake in an arena N'kuhana built. Waves of enemies and bosses teleport in with no downtime. Clear them before the timer and you return to the run with the power you banked. The diary will not promise a fair fight. The reward for people who prove themselves here is left unsaid.

Do not file this as today's Artifact or as Alloyed Collective's final boss.
