Risk of Rain 2 artifacts change the rules of a run: friendly fire, random survivor spawns, and item choice. Turn one on when you want a different loop.
Risk of Rain 2 artifacts are run-wide rule toggles, not a normal drop. Official copy: learn the secrets of the Artifacts to switch modifiers such as friendly fire, random survivor spawns, and item selection. After random stages, enemies, and items, Artifacts are how official copy promises no two runs feel the same.
Official copy names three toggles you can actually use: friendly fire, random survivor spawns, and item selection. A full name list, unlock spots, and banned combos are not in the notes, so this page stops at those three.
Three effects official copy already names
- Friendly fire. That changes four-player spacing. It is not the same as Infernal Mark from unreleased Hallowed Concepts, which is a showcase Hallowed item that makes enemies shoot each other.
- Random survivor spawns. A Huntress-only plan can fail. That is why unlock pages and Artifacts get searched together.
- Item selection. That rewrites drops, which is why the items cheat sheet has to mention Artifacts.
Whether more Artifacts exist, and whether a stage puzzle unlocks them, stays unverified.
Not the same as trials
Prismatic Trials are seeded races with a global leaderboard. Official copy lists them next to Artifacts as another mode, not as the same system. Hallowed Concepts trials of N'kuhana are an unreleased timed pocket entered with a Gong, rewarding N'tormat pages and temporary Ethereal items. Do not file those as current Artifacts.
